run stairs

Twin sister and I went on a nice morning run around her hood in Dana Point, CA.
The stairs were pretty amazing and made me feel like sayin a few swears. I consider that a good workout.
Who else is excited about sunny days and outside workouts?
What's your favorite way to exercise outside?

also, does anyone know why my flicker images aren't working on this blog for posting? It just happened all of a sudden.

friends that get it

cahootal by jane-says
cahootal, a photo by jane-says on Flickr.
My friend Emily did a guest post about Honey over on Cahootal.

It's super funny and you should read it.

My friends at Cahootal really have the coolest thing to hit Utah.

They deliver on Thursdays and it's like a farmer's market to your front door.

My first order was raw honey and raspberry salsa.

I'm eying the chocolate next.

Check it out.

Mother's Day//Gift Guide

Picture 28
Don't forget, it's May 13th.

My mom likes cooking, baking, gardening, studying+teaching church classes, visiting grandchildren, playing tennis, going to college basketball games with my dad, being by water and in the sun, being self-sufficient, working hard, reading, wondering if I'll ever get married and being an all around champ.
These are things I'd like to give my mom (and myself, let's be honest).

I've been a big fan of Todd Selby for a few years now and some of my favorite shots are the ones from the kitchen or dining room. I love seeing the way people set up those spaces. It's such a gathering spot and a lot of good stuff happens in there. People and food...it's a good mix.

Egg Salad Open Face

IMG_1871
Recipe:
2 hard boiled eggs chopped
1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
1 teaspoon lemon zest
sprinkle of fresh chopped tarragon
2 stocks of celery chopped
couple shakes of curry powder
salt to taste

top on whole wheat toast

in other news: my college roommate and first college friend, Mandy, wrote some very nice words about me yesterday. She has a fantastic blog called Food Snob Mom and I love reading it because she has such good taste for food. She has a husband and 2 girls to feed and I love seeing what she's up to in the kitchen, such talent.

Muesli morning

At 350 degrees I toasted:
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup sliced almonds

until the almonds were golden

Meanwhile, I soaked:
1/2 cup Coach's oats
with almond milk

Topped my oats with:
muesli
fresh berries
banana
honey

I like that the muesli added a toasted texture. You can keep muesli in an airtight container for 1 week.

I have more to learn about muesli, I'm new to it. I want to try some dried fruits in their. I think muesli is actually supposed to be eaten with yogurt.
What do you know about muesli? Do you eat it or make it?

L'EQUIP Love

IMG_1843
Did you know that I dehydrate my granola?

I had always baked my granola which was delicious but as I was trying out different recipes and modifying them I found that dehydrating on a low temp for many hours created the results I wanted.

I use a L'EQUIP FilterPro Dehydrator. When I started dehydrating my granola I was borrowing my sister's most basic circular, stacked dehydrator that you just plug in and turn on. It worked out fine as I was in my experimenting stage and new to using a dehydrator. When it got to the point that I was deciding to sell my granola I started to look for a dehydrator that had some functions that would make it all easier and better.

I found that I needed:
+screens for the trays to keep my granola from falling through
+a temperature setting
+an auto shut-off timer

When my friend introduced me to the L'EQUIP FilterPro I was SO excited cause it was what I needed + MORE (easy to wash, fruit leather trays, yogurt cups, a clean air filter...)

Do you have a dehydrator? What do you dehydrate?
